About SMIS

The University of Georgia’s Society for Management Information Systems (SMIS) is a student managed organization that focuses on preparing and exposing students to the world of information systems. SMIS holds regularly scheduled company presentation meetings that allow students to interact with industry representatives and learn more about our growing industry and career opportunities. These meetings are a great way to network with professionals and learn more about possible career paths for MIS majors. In addition, SMIS holds various special events, such as networking and case study preparation workshops. Please see the calendar for an updated schedule for all events. Dress code is business causal, unless otherwise noted. Whether you are a third year already in the MIS program and looking for an internship, or a first year just trying to learn about different majors, we hope to see you at our future events! ​

Our Goal

​Our goal is to build a stronger relationship among MIS students, UGA MIS alumni, company recruiters and Terry MIS faculty. To accomplish this goal, we frequently host company presentations, professional development workshops, alumni functions and much more. Another great way to become more involved in MIS is to apply for a position on general committee.

Paying Member

Joining our organization as a paying member opens the door to a range of exciting opportunities. SMIS members gain access to exclusive case competitions, special events, and professional development resources designed to help them grow. Additionally, members have the chance to apply for the General Committee, where they can take a more active role in shaping the club’s future.

General Committee

The General Committee is the perfect opportunity for members looking to get more involved. Committee members shadow the executive board, assist in organizing club events, and help bring new ideas to life. This role provides hands-on experience in event planning and leadership, making it a great stepping stone for those interested in future leadership positions.

Executive Board

The Executive Board leads the organization by setting its vision, planning key initiatives, and ensuring smooth operations. Board members oversee events, manage club activities, and support both the General Committee and members in their growth and engagement. This role provides valuable leadership experience, strategic decision-making opportunities, and the chance to shape the club’s long-term success.​
